Default My Wedding Shoot (B & W)

I just shot for my friend's wedding last mth. Was using a mixture of Tri-X & HP5.

I've not collected the colour photos which I sent for scanning. Will post them here once I have done so.

No offence, but the 'story' seems a bit rushed, the bits and pieces of the 'love story' you're trying to portray seems to be missing?

But I like the use of BnW (so wth am I still on digital? ) film in the shoot. Some of the shots are pretty good too.

Might want to do some digital touch up to remove dust spots and dirt on the images.

It's really bothering me... I can't help but ask you:

1. Not the main photographer?

2. Something going on between the people (incl the bridegroom) and you?

3. Completely bad mood or too tired?

I only shot 4 rolls of b & w, mainly the church ceremony & some ad hoc shots, that explains why some elements of the wedding are missing. Shot another 9 rolls of colour film of the groom picking up the bride, tea ceremony, outdoor shoot, wedding dinner etc.

To answer to your questions...yes, I'm unfortunately the main photographer . There were 2 more backups shooting on digital.

Erm...I too agree that the photos look dull & gloomy. Probably due to the greyish tone of the pictures. They are scanned directly from the negatives...have not sent for printing yet. And I've been too busy lately to do colour touchups in PS.

I guess I've failed to capture the mood of the whole ceremony But it was indeed a quiet and solemn affair. This is the 1st time I'm shooting a church wedding. The reason why I used b & w is to bring out the "sacredness" of the event.

i think eyes 'see' wrongly lar . The one beside the bride walking
down is the bride's father not the groom. For the people wise, if more shots like the friends, the ah gus and ah yis included will be better. my $0.00002.
Dun just focus on the bride.

IMHO, i think there are too much tight framing. Some wide angle shots will be good in your nice collection.

I did take a number of wide angle shots, but didn't post them up. Too many pictures!

If i may... the contrast of your photos is rather weak, leading to the images looking flat and dull. Don't know if this is due to the scanning process. How does the negatives look?

Perhaps you can try to overexpose your shots by about one stop to boost the contrast.

Thanks for sharing...

I do agree the contrast is rather poor in your pictures. Contrast is important in doing black and white pictures. However, I think it is due to the scanning fault. I'm sure the actual pictures have much better contrast. I experience something similar when I scanned using my flatbed scanner for my colour prints.

Nonetheless, Vivien, its a very good try for you. I'm sure you treasured every moment of the experience, didn't you?

I do suggest that you do upload only a few pictures at 1 time rather than all at 1 shot, since you said you didn't have time to scan them properly. After all, when you show people your less favourable pictures, people will have the impression that your pictures are not as what it should be.

I look forward to seeing more of your works. Thank you for sharing them with us.
