if you have a properly weather sealed lens , i don't see why you need a dry box

HUH? weather sealed prevents fungus from growing? Isn't the glass of the front element exposed?

Or you mean to say shrink wrap the entire lens.

    weather-sealed does not mean air-tight.
How about you loan one of your "weather-sealed" lenses, and we put it in the room where they grow mushrooms?
    Exploring! :)

Even if you are right. Then what about the body, your spare lens and accessories etc.

How did you prevent the fungus from growing on the exterior in prolong storage?

That's is one thing I can't and won't dare to experiment. Too expensive. It will be a for me to know, for you to find out.

But I show you a P&S camera Yashica T3 (will take a pic for record later) which has very serious fungus outside and the exterior len protection glass but the film loading area and the inner lens element totally clean. Yashica T3 is weatherproof. This cam has been stash is the dirty corner of the store room for 10 years.
