People do talk to their belonging that is closed to them. Same for people talking to pets.

Not that they are crazy but normally to determine their actual feeling to a doubt. Kind of like using a crystal wane or pendant to spot a location. People talks to pets hoping to see some reaction from the animals that reinforce their sentiment of doubts or boredom. Talking to pets and non living things are of similar nature, just that former will get some reaction while the latter won't, yet both outcome are rather illogical it seems.

While it is fine to seek an answer from an item once a while, from TS question, it is considered too much... talking and treating them like friends would be extreme. Need to do a self evaluation or diagnostic.

I read of one forumer who liked the smell of his equipment and sniffed it every now and then.

Then there's one guy who every time got new fishing rod (or take old favorite one), he liked to sit down in front of TV after dinner and spend the evening stroking his rod.

I also know of guys and girls who like the smell of a new car and when their cars were new, or go showroom see new models, will smell smell and smile like damned shiok!

    Serious.
Yah, I like the smell of new equipment too... but the smell wears off pretty soon.
And I love the smell of new books... recently borrowed a book from library that has the smell; suspect I'm the first borrower, which always makes me feel good.
I love to smell rawhide bones although I only sometimes chew them... it really works to clean teeth!

Back to talking to my camera, yes, I do scold my camera when it is not working (note, when it is not working, not not taking good photos - that I acknowledge as my fault). But not to the point of like chatting to a buddy. I think so far, only to scold it.

Maybe they are praying... or doing a last recital of facts/formulas.
This one is very normal lah... always got people talking to themselves in exam hall.

A human is one that logic is still in control over emotion. A beast is when emotion takes control over logic.

Whatever you do, as long as the logic is still in control, you are within industrial tolerance range. If emotion take control over logic, you will be send for recycling.
