haha.. usually i just didn't reply the sms / pm...
but it's quite true that a lot of lowballers are actually traders
Get irritated and give him/her your $2.00 worth.
Get irritated and ignore.
Ignore without emotional reaction.
Reply nicely and explain that offer is too low.
If you agree .. deal done
If you dont agree.. dont sell
The mentality is; seller wants to sell high and buyer wants to buy low.. it is business!
It's economics, dog eat dog.
Like some of the posts mentioned, 5%, 10%, 20%, everyone has a different 'guideline' when it comes to negotiating for a best price and accepting an offer. While this is definitely a point of contention when a seller perceives that what he's selling is great value, imho it's a very fluid situation when it comes down to it. UNLESS seller indicates FIXED price but still receives lower offers.
While I actually paid the original asking price from a seller even though he had given me a slight discount, (the lens was very well cared for) imho, it's just the perceived lack of courtesy that I think really riles people when it comes to lowballing and other ungracious behaviour.
Sellers, would it help if a buyer just to ask for a discount rather than declare a price?
Lowballers have been in this forum for a very long time. I know of one that's one of the big senior members here. We should have some striking system, if more than 5 people strike you, your Member or Senior Member status becomes Lowballer and your nick gets put on some official avoid-selling-to list.

i had a lowballer call me at 1.30am after he sent a PM at 1.20am
mr lowballer proceeded to ask why my price is fixed and that the price on ebay is only a bit higher than mine. i still don't understand why he saw it to be so urgent to call to bargain at that kind of time...
as the seller he/she has control over who to sell the item to. if lowballers make an offer, i usually just don't bother replying. can sell it to so many other more reasonable buyers
if i'm really pissed off by the offer (too low or unreasonable), i'll just be cheeky and reply "i give you free wan or not?", then don't reply after that. they usually get the message
nah, just kidding..
When I get lowballed on Ebay or other websites, I'll usually tell them: Sure, that price will get you a few of my pubes. Would you like my pubes mailed to you or would you like to pick them up personally?
kns,alr state in my post less than 1k dun contact me.this retarded kid still dare sms me for 800 and say he is a student. I reply him no money don't play photography and use the money go buy revision book. Still dare reply money doesn't make a man and ask me reply him nicer.he cannot read is it?what the hell is wrong with these kids?the post so clear he cannot read is it? I not trying to haolian money but to even ask when is stated so clearly tells me he is only smart enuff to reply money doesn't make a man. Did he learn basic math and english to read a simple post. When i was student i use P&S.
If there's warning to ward off low-ballers, I won't even want to negotiate with the seller.
Usually if I want to buy something I'll just ask the seller if the price is negotiate or whether they're willing to consider a lower offer, if I feel that the item is overpriced.
If they're ok then I'll make an offer and it's up to them to accept or not. At least, this should minimize any chances of offending any party.
Or I'll include a link to another thread/website offering the same item at lower price and ask whether they can match the pricing. (The item may no longer be available, hence need to ask the current seller)
At least, it's not unrealistic pricing and if pple put up for sale at that pricing means it's a reasonable price, even if the seller may not accept it. but at least it should not be labeled as a "low ball" offer or something like that.

to continue press hex key , to return to main menu press star
This is all about tact.
Instead of "lowballers stay away", use the more polite words:-
1. "I am not willing to sell below $XXX"; or
