Default Im fairly new with printers, how do i determine if a printer is good?

besides being able to print the near full range of adobe colors (which cost a BIG BOMB).

how do i determine if a printer is good? like i determine an DSLR to be good in terms of sensor size, ISO performance, AF speed, FPS, buffer size etc.

on the canon selphy E series, it says 300dpi by 600dpi equivalent to 4800dpi by 4800dpi what does that mean? (i do know dpi stand for dots per inch, and sometimes is written as PPI and a decent image to be printed should be at least 215dpi, recommended 240dpi, 300dpi for the best.)

then there are Ink droplet size? how will that affect the overall?

or is there a good website where i can read these up on my own?

Im planning to get a printer for myself mainly to print CD labels, and CD covers. And i HOPE that it can print nice 4by6" photos or 2by3" photoCards when i bring it out to a mobile studio. if it can produce decent A4 prints, its a bonus.

Or planning to get a basic printer to print CD labels and CD covers and get a decent compact printer that is able to print 4by6" photos and 2by3" photoCards when i bring it out to events for mobile studio.

or are there better recommendations/setups?

is there anyone that can point me in the right direction?

im sorry for bombarding question after question as im thinking of a cost-effective method to set up a mobile studio. (which will turn into a 1-man event coverage with instant print in the future, somehow....)

Thanks in advance...

If you are new with choosing your new printer, I can only give some simple advices from my own experience.

1. What are you looking for, High quality printing or less cost printing for daily paperworks.
2. Check out how much is the ink from retails, and where are the service centres, how much maintaining works do you need to do yourselves weekly or monthly?
3. Dun try Third-Party ink retailer, they are so unreliable, especially when you are new with printer.
4. Test the printer yourselves while you are in the midst of purchasing the printer.

Most of the salesman tells me nothing, they only tells me to bring my printer back if there is problem, and charge me the service or repair fee. Not counting my taxi fares to bring my printer up and down.
