    Default Remote switch/lens cleaning questions

hey guys.. just a couple of newbie questions i wanna ask..

    1. trying to decide on a remote switch, and wondering if i should go wireless or wired. im thinking of going wireless, coz it seems convenient.. i.e. can be used for self portraits etc as well as remote shutter release. but ive seen a lot of people using wired shutter releases n im not sure which one to get anymore is there any feature that a wired switch does that the wireless one cannot? i know the wired one has a half press/full press, but is this important? are there people who use both wired and wireless, for different situations?

    2. just a random question: how often do u clean ur lens and ur protective filter? i'll try searching around n finding answers for this too, but if ur already replying this post, i'd like to hear personal opinions too! cheers, n thanks for ur time

wireless - group/self portraits, anything when you are quite far away from the camera. Cons - might need to press a few times before it trigger.
wired - fireworks, anything when you need to control the spit-sec timming when to trigger.

    1. wired - you can reach the camera but don't want to touch the shutter release using your finger.
wireless - you can't reach the camera.

hahhaa yes... Why would you clean the mirror/sensor unless it was dirty?

anyway, to the TS: My opinion is that the wired trigger gives a faster, more instantaneous response.
The wireless one is far more convenient for me though.
Usually when I want fast response, I'm the one behind the viewfinder

thanks for the responses.. so basically, its good to have both, for the different uses?
about my cleaning question, i dont mean cleaning the sensor/mirror.. dont trust myself doing that yet and there's no need, hopefully for a while lol.. just wondering how often to clean the protective filter and lens..

Since the mirror flips up in it's function the chances for dust to settle are quite limited. If there is really some dust just use the blower (standard equipment). Protective filter? Don't have, cannot get dusty, no need to clean A few specks of dust don't affect the image at all. Some websites show that even scratches don't matter. Be more concerned about dust at sensor, that's what will show up in images.

People do a lot of things, not all make sense. Cleaning lenses from outside is normal, cleaning inside is less common. The illusion of a sparkling clean lens without a speck of dust is tempting for some - but like with all illusions it doesn't last long.
Remote switch: similar to a lot of other equipment - use what you need according the conditions and requirements. I have both but only the wireless is always with me.
