Figurine suspensed from a fishing line from the top, the PS away the fishing line ? From the shadow, confirm the figurine was in a suspensed position.

How about trying a half body or full face portrait shoots on the figurine?

nice, the school girl figure is Kyon Imouto btw.. so catching on to the strobist movement I see with the 7D's intergrated transmitter.. get a proper lightstand instead of using a tripod next?

I think Brother Fragnatic is trying to show us the DIY production, instead of full studio setup.
That's the main attraction for this thread.

yup, trying out to get the most out of as little equipment as possible.
previously i even tried the flash hand-held. lol. but hard to get consistent lighting angles of cos. now, my old alum tripod meant for PNS and small dSLR systems can be put to gd use for mounting off-cam flashes (but limited height only)

anw, i tink j-chan bro is trying to psycho me to buy his old lightstands since he bought his new nanostands by manfrotto..

ok, i know this might be pushing a little: 3-point lighting with a single 580EX II off-camera.
    Rim, Key, Fill lighting.

still the same old swimsuit figurine: Nagato Yuki

    18. tri-lighting, single flash

    19. In 3D Stereogram

    setup for the 3-point lighting:

    19. 2-point lighting without fill lighting.

actually i had the idea of using a mirror, but maybe not to the extend to 3-point lighting.

had to keep looking in all the 3 directions of the light to check whether the flash head was in position thru the mirror.. lol
