They announced a missing CF card left in the print booth around 8PM, you might want to simply send an email to Canon via their website.

    yes of course!

on another note, the guy who talked about the new zealand trip from last year's winners took so long! more than one hour and he just showed various pictures from their trip!

All in all, I enjoyed the photomarathon. $10 is cheap consider the freebies we have in rtn. The sharing on travel photography is pretty good, at least it gives some of us an idea of how things are planned and who we may contact if we want to go for such trip.

Some get to enjoy free OSIM massage, some get free EOS servicng, many get free photo print. Not bad lah....

Didn't kena anything on my cf card btw.

I guess I was damn lucky to read this forum before actually plugging back my SD card into my computer (THANK GOD FOR M$'S REALIZATION OF THEIR AUTOPLAY STUPIDITY!).

Here's my take on the competition:

Personally speaking, I sucked. Big time. I should've not spent the $10 going into the competition, knowing that others are having it better than me. I should've spent more time improving my shots and master my Canon EOS 450D. I dread the moment when I realized that I am just another guy/girl with camera. My shots aren't great. My composition needs to be worked on further; I still had not grasped my camera's intimate settings better, and my submission of photos could've been better substituted with other pictures that, in my opinion, should've been submitted instead!

    [/rant]

('Twas my first Canon Photomarathon competition for me, and I have no idea if this will be my last competition God willing, I hope to participate again next year.)

Anyway, I cemented my belief in myself that I can approach to people better (+1 for a relative shut-in), I was able to appreciate the "filtered" effects on my camera (well, I only played with my "sepia"/monochrome shots today), and for a starter "snooped" myself into a certain Idol session somewhere in Singapore.

Actually, it was kinda fun taking this competition. Rain may dampen what we may originally conceive (whenever the theme was mentioned, I just conceptualize the image that I wanted to take which is bad if I only practised taking candid shots), but improvise.

Anyway, I've taken a look at the finalists from the first 2 themes; I have to admit that those pictures are really fantastic to look at. Which reminds me.............

i think it's participants' responsibility to ensure their own cards are virus free, it just takes some irresponsible users to harm everyone, including the organizers. I doubt the organizers would wanna spend extra time to scan everyone's cards before allowing downloading, the logistics might turn out to be a nightmare.

i believe their coms/macs are "wiped clean" before being used for the competition, and another "wipe" after the competition. So i guess, it's just plain unlucky for those who kena. I too found some on my card, after discovering my sd card had something "service manger.exe" or similar at the printing station. Did a scan on my own com, cleared it, download the photos, put back the card into cam and format. Probably will do another full scan on my com later.

Another year's marathon gone, lets look forward to the next, and hope there's more improvements (actually last year, i too kena virus on sd card, did the same procedure too).
Thumb of rule, disable the AUTORUN feature on your MICROSOFT OS....
this is what is causing the the virus to spread.

If the card is infected and plugged into the com with no AUTORUN feature, the virus will stay dormant on the infected media.

    So what is suggested is...

    - Disable the AUTORUN feature.
    - In future, run a scan on any media card after you plug in.

This should pretty much safeguard urself.

Thats the whole point of competition.. to push you to the next level in terms of skill... maybe humbility if you've been a bit big headed and havent been able to realize there are millions of people much better then you and so on.. But glad you had fun in the competition.. though I didn't go.. I managed to pose for a few of the contestants for their themes energy and motion. hahah.. =)

I did not realize there is virus as my computer did not detect anything... guess i should format the CF. Also, the guy who help me upload the second theme corrupt my work. Cannot view on my camera, but luckily still be able to view on my computer

They should have inform them how to properly eject the card.

mine's free of virus i feel that the judging was really horrible as some of the photos on the wall were so much better than the winning ones to me.

Take for example the second prize winner of the theme "togetherness" in the open category. when it was flashed on the projector screen , me and my girlfriend were so confused because we couldn't even tell what the photo was. then i heard people nearby laughing and saying " wah like that also can win ah?"

To me , probably only 3 or 4 out of the 18 winning photos were good.

The camera cleaning was really good and thorough though they managed to clear a huge speck of dust that's been in my viewfinder for ages.

I think there were similar misgivings about the results for last year's Photomarathon results.

the emcee has consistently taken up the role in various canon photo related events, such as seminars with distinguished speakers..he was the emcee for last yr's marathon too..

I feel its a matter of taste, some people like it some people don't. I personally find him alright...
