Anyone tried using 35mm film on Holga?
I read online that we should print it on "contact sheet"?
How much is that? And is that the only way?
As in we cant print in the normal 35mm way?

Not sure if you mean also contact prints. This are simply strips of negs (35 or 120 format) and exposed to get a 5R or 8R print aka contact sheet.

I think that should be what Im talking about.
But do you mean that all the negatives will be printed on a single 5R or 8R print?
Doesnt that make the pictures really small?

quicklime,

yes the contact print is made by putting the negatives in "contact" with the printing paper. Thus, the images on the print will be the same size as your negatives. The look is somewhat like the index print you get from digital labs, but like I mentioned the images will be the same size as your negatives.

Hi Ansel, thanks for answering my question!
Is this the only way of developing prints if I use 35mm film for Holga?
Or can we also develop it into the usual 4Rs?

Now you are talking about using 35mm film on a Holga, which normally takes 120 format film. This is a modified Holga am I right? I don't have a Holga, nor am I sure how you would normally mod it to take 35mm film, but my first guess is that the frame size of the modified holga will not be the standard 24mmx36mm size. I could be wrong. Now if you frame size is not the standard 24x36 then you will have to do custom prints if you want just a single image. Outside labs won't be able to print your full frame with their machine. With b/w it will all be easy and cheap if you do yourself. With colour, well, good luck if anyone is willing to do any printing for you.

Not particularly b/w or colour...coz Im thinking of trying 35mm film next..so trying to find out more first....I dunno abt the frame size also leh. But I've read online that to use 35mm film, we'll just need to wind some rubber band round the spoof, so the 35mm film can fit nicely, and that's it.

Anyone tried using 35mm film on Holga before?

Sorry, no idea how much it would cost but the main application is usually when someone shoots B+W and want have a quick preview of the entire roll of neg. This is usually done in the darkroom to find out which are the better shots.

Today with the advent of digital photofinish labs, it would be hard to find one that offer contact prints as this is a manual process, index prints definitely.

Also, you won't find folks that shoot slides doing this as the image is already "as is". As for color negs, it would probably be easier to develop it in 3R if you want to keep the costs low.

As for the costs, the prices would vary, from what they would charge for 8R print to a factor of 2x.
