Default Canon 8800F scanning tips

Hi all,

Just got a 8800F yesterday.
Tried to scan with the default canoscan the results were totally disappointing. Colors were way off and oversaturated and the image wasn't sharp at all.
Then I tried downloading vuescan and it was suddenly so much better and I get better details in the shadows and highlights. But sharpness wise still lose to the scans that i get from fotohub beach road. Both softwares had all their usm, dust removal etc turned off as I wanted to do that in PS instead.

Can fellow users care to share their workflow?
I'm scanning at 2400dpi now in jpeg.
Still thinking whether i should invest in vuescan or give up this scanning altogether. Was thinking of going into RF, but now with the disappointing results i'm having second thoughts.

Hi Mystix,

Can you advise what you are scanning, slide or film?

Also, can you post an example bad scan here?
