Default DIY lubing Hassy Lenses?

Dear gurus,

I have a couple of old Hassy CT* lenses. While I prefer the construction and self-timer, I absolutely wish that the focusing torque can be better.

Check with a reliable repair chap and he wants to service them for about $280+ each. Considering that I only paid about $600 each, I am reluctant to part with that kind of money.

Has only one tried lubing their own lens? I have experience with Nikkors and older Leitzs, but obviously, the Hassy looks a lot more complicated and would need some advice.

Alternatively, does anyone know any cheaper but reliable repair shops that do Hassy?

Thanks.

have you tried contacting Shriro? Maybe servicing fr them may not be as expensive as you may think?

Labour cost does not depend on the cost of your lens....

Old Hassy lenses are complicated.

You could try Camera hospital.

Cool Re: DIY lubing Hassy Lenses?

Hassy lenses do not become tight for no reason - because they are well greased and aligned.
Yours must have either been knocked or cleaned by some backroom repairshop and badly reassembled.
A lot of these guys had never had proper training , grease , tools and parts.
OK to try it yourself but when you have to pay good money . . .
Come to the Hasseblad Users gathering every first Tuesday of the month and get a free look into by a qualified engineer .
Next gathering is 6th October @ Shriro house , 7-9 pm .
When you buy a first class lens , even second hand , at least get first class service .
