Default 256MB Smart Media Card

Anyone over here is using the old olympus camera that the storage media is "smartmedia card"?

Our problem is : if you save picture in tiff format, the size is very huge. SO, one 128mb card won't able for us to take many picture. In this case we need to prepare or buy more 128mb as backup copy.

So, you guys know is there any 256mb smart media in the market? No sure i have seen something in the last few days that somewhere on the internet got 256mb smart media offer.

If the smartmedia card is stoppped their production to create 256mb in the future, then it is a negative point for the buyer to get the Olympus camera which using smart media card.

As we know the latest camera has changed to Xd card but still far away to go for us to accept especially the selling price is not so cheap. This is similar to Sony Memory Stick Pro or Duo for the T1 with 5.0 mega pixel. camera.

As far as I know SmartMedia Card is max 128MB.

One reason why Olympus had stopped using SmartMedia Card, and switch to xD Card is the above max capacity.

As far as I know, the largest SM is only 128mb. This certainly is a consideration to anyone buying a camera which only uses SM. Btw, SM price seems to be going up gradually as well... probably due to lower production rates as it is being phased out.
