    Default Quick flash help needed

I may be hitting the stores tomorrow (here for two weeks to visit the family) to get a third party flash for my K100D (yes still using this.. see no reason to change it).

Question is, where can i get a decent one on a tight budget in SG?
I was eyeing the Vivitar 285. Can this be found here and what can i expect to pay?
Are there any other options? Sunpak?
I can't afford any of the Pentax or even Sigma flashes..

Basically, you want either a P-TTL flash (expensive) or a Varipower Thyristor flash (cheaper) like the Vivitar 285HV. I don't think the 285HV is in stock anywhere but there are similar third party flashes available, e.g. http://www.gadgetinfinity.com/produc...roductid=17195
Note that these are harder to use, you will have to put the camera in M mode (or Av with substantial negative EV), choose the appropriate power, iso and aperture from the table/sliderule/calculator, set the power on the flash and aperture/iso on the camera.

My guess is brick and mortar shops may carry a couple of this kind of flashes around, but no idea what brand what model what price, you probably will have to ask the shop to introduce what they have to you.

If you can find it, make sure you get the PTTL version

Is thi the first or second version? Newer version is about $360, I think. The earlier version is below $300.

But these prices were more than a month a ago. Happy hunting.
