Default Photo Sharing - Whaleshark

Been kind of quiet recently so decided to share with u one of my fav shots

Whaleshark

This was taken way back in 1998 and my second outing in my Sea&Sea then. I didn't know much about ambient light photography and was busy snapping away that I realised my strobe was not re-cycling fast enuff. Only then that I realise there was no use chasing this fish and decided to shoot silhouettes. So flash off and i ended with some nice shots.

What i liked about the shot is the convergence of my buddy and the whaleshark, pointing in the same direction. The sunlight coming in on the right provided some sunburst.

If I rem correctly, the setting should be f8 and 1/100 (shutter speed is always fixed on my camera). Oh, and shoot close and up so that picture will not end up flat. The location is Perhentian, Temple of the Sea, aka Tokong Luat.

Cheers

Hi there KTHAN

All in all i like your Polycerid Nudibranch shot more...... (maybe because i am a Macro Person)

None the less, You captured the essence of the Nudibranch shot ,it shows a nudibranch in Motion. Nicely done.

p/s definitely your scanner colour is abit out, i see a red cast in the photos

As for the whale shark photo, how far away were you?

This is aNembrotha lineolata It is of the SUBFAMILY Nembrothinae

The eggs are laid in couter clockwise pattern and it is coloured as the "lined" patterns of its body.! hope that helped.

i have the sigma 15mm fisheye for wide angle, and 60mm and 105mm for macro. But i think S2 will be for macro, continue using my S&S for WA becos i suppose usually there are currents and it's no fun lugging the heavy housed system thru it.
