Default Holga...

Hi everyone! I ordered the Holga from this guy in yahoo auctions and he'll be shipping the Holga tmr!
Anyone has bought from the auctions b4 too? Do we really have to wait 1 week for the camera to ship from HK?

And what should I get ready b4 getting the camera? Film? Normal photo shops should have it right? Is there a need to get the opaque tape?
This is so exciting!

congrats on your purchase. Just be patient and wait for the package to appear in abt a week or so.

Lomography is something very subjective but one thing is lightleakage is the characteristic of a Holga...

to start off, get yourself some film from RUBY PHOTOS (opp. Peninsular plaza) it's 120 format and you can choose either ISO 125 or ISO 400.

den go shoot and develop the 1st roll to see if you need any opaque tape to "characterise" your holga.

Have fun

Happy for you man! Trust me on this : expect the unexpected out of this camera! It's famous for it's light-leak effect and the results are always so surprising. Enjoy your shooting with Holga!

Film development cost's are the same as per roll in 35mm film. prints can cost more. Yes, you can specify 4R or 6R although some labs can also do 4S, which is a square format, to cover your full square negative.

But the true joy will come when you do b/w. Then you can do everything, developing the negs, and printing the photos yourself.

i'm still confused about which Holga to buy.. but i'm def buying one w/o flash and then buying the external flash for it.

i was reading the website and they said we can used conventional 120 roll film like what SniperD had quote or modifiable to support 35mm. so which one is better?
and shall i get the full package (with box, book everything) or just the camera will do?
thanks!

Hi guys, it really depends on what you like. 120 film is so-called easier to use, as theres no modifications needed. You have to mod your holga if you want to use a 35mm film with it. No need to get the package, you're paying more for stuff which you don't really need. An alternative approach to getting a Holga would be www.perlyinc.com. He has a corner over here at clubsnap, great, affiable seller. Might want to check out the stuff he's selling.
