Hi,
would like to know what's the diff between Epson T50 and T60. Try to search for review of T50 but turn out a lot of people selling T50 unopened. If you have used T50, can share ur experience? Thks. Ahsam |

i find T50 great for printing photos and i guess the reason why most are selling it was there was a talk by Steve McCurry organised by Epson sometime back and it came along a complimentary T50 printer.
Other than that, I cant think of why would anyone giving up the printer. btw, I too got the printer from the talk. =) |

I got mine from the talk, too, and it's nice enough. The T60 seems to be priced at a higher point than the T50 (which peeves me a bit...I mean shouldn't I get a T60 with the talk instead?! heh). Anyway, the T60 seems to use a single unbranded inkset, while the T50 uses both a different unbranded inkset and the Claria inkset. The T60 is claimed to produce "photo lab" quality output, which doesn't mean anything to me, because they've not quantified it in any way. But yeah that's basically it.

arrggg!!! free printer???
I paid good money for my R290! But I guess the T50 and T60 are merely the updated versions of the R230 and R290 adopting the new "T" nomenclature and styling. If Epson follows their usual convention, then the T60 is probably a faster version of the T50. ![]()

Looking at the specs, everything seems to be the same except T50 supports the high-capacity cartridges. is this in the same league as the old R290? Epson lists it under normal photo quality printers whereas R290 is listed under premium photo quality printers. Howevers specs-wise they look awfully similar, which is kinda confusing...

I am hoping they are inferior to the R290 because I just bought my R290 a few months ago!

I am searching for issues on Epson Printer, and I find this forum about T60.
I have a R270, which give me alot of declogging problem, and ink leaking problem. I wasted so much of time, and effort, and repair money for the past 2 years. While I am thinking of looking for a printer as I am tired of repairing the R270. I am now confused with which brand is better, i need a good quality printer and one that dun give me so much headache. I wish to find out, 1. what is the difference between (T60 & R290) or (T50 & R270)? 2. Does anyone has unpleasant experience with R290 or R270? Thanks in advance Last edited by jikowhitewolf; 4 Weeks Ago at 12:45 AM. |

Just found out that the two models T50 and T60 are exactly the same except for their prices and the ink cartridges. Apparently T60 uses a cheaper set of cartridges 85N (prints same volume as the 81N according to specs), T50 uses 81/82N which is double the price. The T50 is going for $198, T60 going for $278. So in the long run, I reckon T60 is a better choice if you're gonna use original ink. Anyone using either models? any comments about their print quality? |

I don't know about 85N, but the 81N is the high capacity range of ink carts. 82N is the standard cart for the T50. And well...I've never seen the 81N inkset anywhere!
I was at a printer shop quizzing the sales dude about the diff myself. Then I got the answer that the diff was...dun dun dun...that T60 produces "lab quality prints"! -_- (that's in the specs, btw). But I suspect the T60 uses the same standard dye inks (but different cartridges) as the RX-510 because it's a no-name ink. T50 inks are Claria instead. There's probably a gamut difference somewhere, but I don't have the exact specs on which is actually better. |

I just bought the T60. On the box it states that the inkset is also Claria.

Quite happy with the printer except I can't understand why they had to make it so big. It occupies alot of real estate on my table.

oh, ya. the Printer size is really big, in fact I place it on the floor when I need it. May I know Where do you purchase your Epson R290?
And why do u choose R290 over T60 (new model)? Last edited by jikowhitewolf; 3 Weeks Ago at 05:25 PM. |
