Don't discount the 18-55 kit lens, it's actually pretty good for it's range. What you need is more focal length. If budget is tight, the EF-S 55-250 IS (~$370) is a good choice-you'll definitely be able to shoot more than just those orang-utans Use shutter priority with auto-ISO to shoot faster moving animals or if the light is poor.

    thats great advice bro
    thanks! =D
i think i'll be going macro before focal length for now

Hmm... think you choose the wrong kit lens. 18-55mm is only good for landscape.
Think it will be good if you can invest in another lens maybe a 70-200mm at less.
Just my two cent worth of opinion.
