2.8A & 2.8E?

If price is right, you might want to consider.

Once upon a time , in the 70s ,80s , Singapore became the 3 rd country in the world outside Europe and Japan to manufacture cameras . Technical personnel were sent for up to 2 years training in the Rollei factory in Germany .The factory in Chai Chee made many models of the SL 35 , 35s and the slide projectors . For a while , it was great . Then like the many times in Rollei's history , they foldered up , being never really good in mass marketing . Staff were retrenched and equipment sold to Avimore which became the biggest optical manufacturer in Asia outside Japan .
The good technical staff went to serve service departments in Canon , Nikon , Leica , formerly Minolta and Contax .
We should keep the made in Singapore cameras -They are our legacy .
Some even claimed the 100 lines per mm optics made in Singapore were better than those made in Rolleis Braunshweig factory .
In 2007 the Rollei factory started making the high end MF Afi for Leaf and the Hy6 for Sinar .
In April this year , Rollei went bottoms up again , victims of the credit crunch .
Pulling Leaf and Sinar down as well .
And this time it could be RIP.

There are Russian copies, but not fake as they r the real original Russian made cameras based on Rollei or Hasselblad designs. Eg. Russian TLR - Lomo166, a copy of Rollei. Then the Kiev 88 - a copy of Hasselblad. But they are the real Mc Coy of Russian made cameras!

If you gonna pay S$4k for Rolleiflex 2.8E w planar lens, then I would say too much lah ... well, if you really like it and well can afford to splurge the dough, go ahead then Ultimately, it's you who would have to decide to proceed or not.

$4k to buy an excellent 10/10 condition Rollei wide is cheap. 1950s 2.8 E charging $4K, then you can expect the box and everything inside to be mint and never touched by human hands, and not a single piece of dust.

Or I put the question in this way,do rolleiflex have replica?it bear the name of rolleiflex but not made by rollei itself, like the leica M3,there are lots of replica copies in the market.

NO. (There are Chinese clones, but no fake.)

2.8A or E, don't pay more than S$1.5K (max.), even if it is minty.

A truly mint example of a 2.8F WF (12/24 ver.) can fetch $2K to $3K though. 2.8E3 is also quite rare and valuable.

For shooting, they are all good (as long as they are in full working order and taking lens is good). My personal favourite is the 3.5F type 4 Planar (6-E version, S/N above 28xxxxx). The best, IMHO.

Cheers,

YOL

So I can focus on the camera itself, the function and the control and do not need to worried that is a replica or fake copy,is that right?

That's rite.

Most common problems: slow speeds (1/15 and below, esp. near 1s) sluggish or sticky; oil on blades; taking lens not clean/clear/scratched; meter out; taking lens/viewing lens not aligned (hence picture out-of-focus, hard but can be checked)... have I left out any? Oh, stained reflect mirror (common hidden problem).

Hi Bro, I need some help. My dad left us a Rolleiflex DBP DBGM Serial is 17500XX with f2.8 75mm Heldosmat lens (top) and f3.5 75mm Planar lens by Carl Zeiss. It has built-in metering. It is made by Franke & Heidecke. I cannot seem to find the model number. I had it serviced recently and just loaded the film but have no manual to figure out how to use it.

Can you point me in the right direction?

Thanks.
