Just curious, how many people actually have filed in their photos for copyrights with a Copyrights Office locally? Any specifics, eg, where to get forms, how to register, costs etc, to share?

That's an American thing.

If I don't get my laws mixed up, copyright is granted automatically to author works (originally created), entrepreneurial works (published editions of works) and live performances under the Copyright Act. Photographs fall under author works.
Your photographs are automatically protected under the Copyright Act even if you don't display any markings (e.g. the (C) sign) or copyright statements. However, there are details involved in this copyright protection that are caveats to the above.
So, in short, there is no procedure, costs, filing, etc. involved. This only comes in when you want to sue someone over copyright infringement.
