Dedicated film scanner

Hi guys,

I want to buy a 2nd hand scanner to scan some negatives and slides..

I notice that it is mostly epson v700 and canon model is being sourced..

Are all these flatbed scanner can do a good job for film scanning? how is it comparing to Konica Minolta Scan Dual series? this konica minolta was quite popular before but had stopped production, so i wonder is the flatbed scanner technology had caught up with konica minolta SD series?

Hi,

I have not used any of the scanner you mentioned. However, based on the review from photo-i, I believed that v700 is a good scanner, and it is comparable with delicated film scanner.

Do you require to scan MF film or printed documents? If required, then I suggest you get v700, more flexible. Otherwise, I think both will do a good job. After all, I don't think you will pixel peeping at all the photos you have scanned.

the v700 is more than good enough. Quality is miniscule compared to those 20k imacon scanners. Only if you zoom all the way in, will you tell the difference in sharpness

Is there a huge difference between the V100 and V700?
I upgraded to the V100 from an older perfection series to get better scans from my film negatives. Have more than a thousand to scan but the quality is not what i want and the speed is still slow.
Anyone can show a sample negative scan of your V700?

Otherwise the V100 scans very nicely for other type of pictures.
