Must have been a cloudy day. Suggest you use ISO 800, even if it is outdoors. You must have been using a long telephoto lens, so handshake would be quite a problem. You're aiming for at least 1/1000 shutter speed.

Was it a 2.8 lens?

That's it! You hit the point. I am alwasy afraid of grainy pics so tend to avoided high ISO (>400) but in many cases it brings blur images which I have to discard. This batch were taken with Sigma 70-200/2.8 + 1.4x, wide open at ISO 400 but still cannot get a fast enough shutter speed. Will definitely use higher iso next time.

I agree, actions shots are hard to take.

heres one of mine but i used telelens...didnt come out as sharp.
