    .. I have make a small excel file to help you calculate the HFD of the lens you have chosen as follows;

    1. Suitable for sensor MF, FF, 2.0/1.6/1.5 APSC
    2. HFD cannot be related in zoom range, so key in intended focal length if you're using a zoom.
    3. HFD can be answered in metric or imperial references, you choose.

    HFD = Hyper Focal Distance, meaning the distance you should focus if you want to optimzed the Depth of Field in a given focal length and f/stop composition. This would be helpful for scenery/landscape and others such as Sunrise and Sunset photography. You will have a clearer fore and aft ground as opposed to infinity focus.

    However, it may be the distance you want to avoid in portraiture and bokeh is what you would like to have. At HFD, I'm afraid, there will be very little bokeh.

    Please note that HFD is not a DOF calculator, I am currently unable to develope that as yet till I can identify a working formula.

    Camel's HFD Calculator

    Have fun and feed back is welcomed.... and don't blame any lenses' bokeh is no good if you're focusing on its HFD.

    Please note that the above link will expire in 7 days.
