Went to AMK Park today. Trying out the plate diffuser again with two rubber bands tying it to the hood of the lens, as recommended by forumers here. The distribution of light was better with a brighter foreground. Usually my macro foreground is a bit dark due to blockage by the lens barrel. Hence, i used very little fill light in post-processing and maybe cos of that, sharper focus. At least i feel this "spider" shot is sharper than the "long leg fly" posted earlier.

I am very thankful to Lawrence (ya! we went together) who pointed out this little fella to me. I think it is a golden jumping spider (to be confirmed). There were some other beautiful creatures around. Will post more in the "macro" thread later.

Looks like you can find some manufacturer to make this and sell as "SeeFei LumiPlate"
It does seem to be really effective.

Quite happy with it, the shadows seems a little lighter than before.

I made another DIY for testing, will post again if its effective or not. Find fun again in researching for Macro techniques. hahaha.just like ol'times.
Nice set of macros ricsal. I saw some of these insects previously but not able to get that clear images of them.

thanks for sharing. the photographs appear soft and lack contrast. you can tweak the contrast with post processing. composition can be improved with more interesting subject. hope you dont mind. just my 2 cents worth.

just a note: please post your camera & lens used as this thread suppose to carry some technical discussion on hardware. FW fought hard for this thread and we dont want to get him into trouble by just posting photographs for comments.... you can find out more at the start of the a thread about this issue.

He did put up links to the rest of the photos in the set, so it's actually within the guidelines. I believe there can't be strong objections to including some "teaser photos" with the links?
My photos - see just some or all of it =)

if you want to help, would appreciate if you can give some comments on jjynwa's photographs. what's wrong with letting other know the camera model & lens used? This feature was featured in the "old" thread.

relax lah bro, just a note only, not a warning lah!

No lah, I know you're not scolding him. But we only need to either have technical discussion or link to other galleries, no need both right? Less requirements the better mah....

agreed with you about linking back photo posted somewhere else to this thread. hope newbies and sifus alike will drop by here more often with the photos & comments. looking forward to see the like of night86mare (landscape), kengoh (birding), otc (macro), creampuff (stuff), istDes (stuff), PHC (sport) etc dropping by more often and newbies too like joycegian.

sorry if i miss out any names up there but hope you guys understand what i am trying to say. this thread used to be the hottest thread two years ago before closed down by the mod and reappear as "tech discussion". one way to bring up the brand name of Pentax is to have more meaningful discussion of the hardware, photos, technique etc. We can start here....
