found this link frm FM forum..
http://www.cnet.com/4014-6501_9-8623...by=50&sort=asc better than dpreview... this is what it says: Description: The Canon EOS-1D Digital SLR (Body Only) is a 4.2-megapixel, prosumer digital camera. Relative to other prosumer cameras on the market, it is relatively high priced at around $3,049. Pros: Has 4.2-megapixel resolution, which is considerably higher than some similarly priced cameras. This camera also offers control over numerous exposure modes including E-TTL program flash, aperture-priority, shutter-priority, automatic, manual, and bulb mode. Cons: None noted, given available product data. Suitability: A prosumer camera, suited for semi-professional photography. A recommended use (based on key features) is framed photos for the home. The largest size prints recommended (estimated from the camera's image resolution) are 8”x10” prints. Value: In general, this camera's price seems a bit steep, with respect to its features. For example, when it comes to resolution, the average price of prosumer cameras with comparable resolution is considerably less -- right around $1,108. Suggestions: (1) We recommend that you get at least a 128 MB CompactFlash card to go along with this camera, because it will let you store around 60 pictures. (2) For more help in deciding if this is the right digital camera for you, visit the buying guide for digital cameras at CNET Reviews. |

I really wonder how many people use 128mb CF card on their 1D as recommended.

I use a 32mb Canon CF as a backup to my backup on my 10D. Thank goodness I've not had a chance to insert the thing into the memory slot yet.

i think the review was computer generated, based on specs alone. The 1Ds has a very similar review, almost word for word.
i like the "Does not have a camera flash" part, under 'Cons' of the 1Ds. ![]() |

In general, this camera's price seems hard to justify, with respect to its features. For example, when it comes to resolution, the average price of prosumer cameras with similar resolution is quite a bit less -- in fact around $2,945. |

Those of us at CNET who write and edit camera reviews have read the recent discussions about CNET's product briefs, and we'd like to clarify.
For a long time, we’ve been providing hands-on reviews of digital cameras, as well as brief first takes on new models. Recently, CNET launched product briefs as part of our coverage of digital cameras. Unlike the reviews, product briefs are automatically generated sketches derived from specs and prices. The intent is to provide a general insight as to where a camera falls in the spectrum of current models. However, the product brief technology is still in the beta-testing stage, and has occasionally resulted in unfortunate errors. The EOS 1D product brief turned out to be one such howler, and we can only apologize. Clearly there’s still some de-kinking to do. Please don’t think the automated product briefs are representative of our full, bylined reviews, such as that of the Canon EOS 1Ds (http://reviews.cnet.com/4505-6501_7-20610303.html). The reviews reflect the opinions of CNET editors and writers--all of whom have extensive photographic experience in both the film and digital realms--and are rooted in standard, unbiased lab and field tests. Of course, as always, you’re free to disagree with us <g>. Lori Grunin and Aimee Baldridge Senior Editors, CNET Networks Camera Reviews |
