Planning a trip to Koya-san / Mount Koya. I did a search on CS and come across nuts’s photo/blog on koya-san:
http://blog.roving-light.com/2009/03/koya-san.html Anyone else been there, I would appreciate some feedback/info on the following: Understand we need to stay at the temple lodging. I understand we need to join in the morning-prayers while staying there. I have a 2 years old son. I’m more than happy to go for the prayers while my wife looks after the son. Does the temple lodging allow toddler? Next alternative: Is there any hotel/roykan at Koya town? I can’t find any info on the internet so far. Worse case: Is it feasible to do a day trip to Koyasan from Osaka? Any other info/tips. Tks. |

Well, shukubo or temple lodging is really up to you, there is no such thing as a need to stay there. Just highly recommended for the experience
![]() The morning prayers are also up to you really... so yah, you can go while your wife & son continue to sleep. As for allowing toddlers, I've no idea! I believe they do have other accommodations in town, and while its possible to do a day-trip, my recommendation is enjoy the trip leisurely..... ![]() More info here : http://www.japan-guide.com/e/e4900.html

Tks for the info.
I will probably stay overnight. Managed to find some links on temple lodging. The one below in particular indicate whether they welcome children: http://www.japaneseguesthouses.com/d...koya/index.htm Official website here: http://www.shukubo.jp/eng/index.html |
