Heard that the shutter speed will become inaccurate as time goes by.

But if you are not into tip-top quality images like those of Hassy, it makes a very cheap and good buy because the wide-angle lens are damn cheap (compared to Hassy). A Hassy wide-angle lens will set you back by a few thousand dollars.

forget it. if you want a 6x6 box cam, get the newer kiev 66CM. or else save for a hassy 500cm.

hmm ok. so just use for casual shooting? compare it with a pentacon six, which would be more worth it?

i think pentacon six has also well-documented frame spacing problems, IIRC..

but of course, if you are comparing the 2, i will get the pentacon.

Hi nightwolf75,

I currently have a kiev 88 and have been using it. Initially when I first used, forgot to **** the shutter and change the shutter speed then I spoil the shutter. Sent to Ukraine to get the metal curtain to be changed to a cloth curtain. So far so good.

As regards to the frame spacing, I also encounter that problem. Since I do not do very fast shooting with it, so after each frame i peak at the film back window to see if the spacing is ok by looking at the paper backing number. In this way, the problem was solved. There was no light leak with my film back.

It looks like a hassy but do not feel like one. I have handled my friend's 500C and the cocking was much smoother than the 88. If you are ok with the above short comings, I think is worth giving it a try.

Sometimes it is fun to do those adjustments... I think i am going to take out my film camera and start shooting!
