Still can remember when I get my 1st Reebok shoe (all white) and wear it to school was in sec 4. Feel I'm really the most down-to-earth and also very well known as a trend setter in school. Every eyed on my shoe. Then everyone start get their own pair. Even my hair style when I started to cut table-top like the duos group 'BROS', its really a phenomena that time.

Still remembered back then, teachers would use the Black board (which is actually green) with chalk. Talk during lesson, and you'll watch the chalks, or sometimes duster fly! Some students will be arrowed to wipe the board either after or halfway through the lesson. Nowadays teachers use white board, or powerpoint slides?

And the OHP. The AVA rep will need to setup the equipment, and the teacher would teach using transparencies. Those were the days!

Hahaha!!! talking about chalks, the most hated things that I experienced when those boys played pranks. They rubbed the chalks all over the edge of your chair and also underneth the table. So when you sitted and put your leg under the table without notice you get those chalk marks all over your pants and the worst is the pants is navy bue. No matter how you tried to wipe it off, the chalk marks still visible.

Wah! Not another nostalgia thread again! haha

Who remember the BBC Microcomputer? Used to see them at Times bookstore at Pheonix hotel basement when I was a small boy but don't know what it is about. And it cost like thousand dollars then. People used it to learn BASIC programming.

Creative first shop was at the old Funan centre 5th floor. Still can vaguely remember stepping into the shop and saw Mr. Sim demo the Cubic 99.

SBC's Fivefoot way drama and Air force drama.

well..memories for those born in 70s who had gone thru those times..i'd say almost 80% of those points were part of me back then. very nostalgic indeed

could have been better if those images of school, textbooks, bus, cartoons or anything related to the 80s be preserved on the digital print.. anyone has it?

why dun we open up a 'museum of the 80s' from the lens perpective in CS?

    cheers

    Wahahahahaha!! This is so true!

We will always 'fight' with the other classes during dismissal for the best assembly spot. Everyone in the class must play ball and walk fast fast, usually the girls are
the ones that slowed us down, so they are not allowed to stand infront and lead the class.

The rule is simple, first come, first go. But the funny thing is, even after leaving first, we still have to wait for frens at the behind queues to come out before going home.
But as long as we can march out first, we win already. Like that also shiok

I stayed at the private properties along upper changi road, just behind the Shell station, still there, no money to shift house

Anyway, what happen to somapa? I remember there used to be a clinic there, does anyone remember this place? Is there any like photographic documentation of that place? My memories of it are quite blur. Only remember my mom bring me there to see the doctors, nightmare la........

    hey pal,

My parents used to stay in Somapah Rd village (Kampung Padang Terbakar to be exact) in the 70s before they shift to Bedok South. I had the luxury to feel both in HDB and the village life. Damn it was hell of a good time indeed back then. I'd tagged my mum every weekend to go back to our village and would always swim in the sea(east coast), venture into small forest and do what naughty boys would do

Best to my knowledge, Somapah Rd leads to several villages namely Jalan Darat Nenas, Koh Sek Lim Rd(the current NEWATER plant & Visitor's Centre), Kampung Padang Terbakar and several others which I can't remember. In fact, the Tanah Merah Country Club, Changi South Industrial Park, Singapore Expo, Xilin Ave are all the developed areas where the previous somapah rd links to.

In '86, I went to Changkat Changi Sec Sch located @ Jalan Tiga Ratus(still exist) which is opposite Somapah Rd. It was around the 80s when the villages were torn down to pave way for development. Gradually, the somapah road and a small SBS bus depot beside S'pore Expo were closed. Come to think of it, it's quite sad that I didn't document it in print.

I'm asking my parents to allow me to browse thru' their old photo albums. So anyone with any pics, care to share?

    cheers everyone

Wow! Those were the old school buses! I used to take them as a kid. The double deck was one jerky ride on the top man!

I like to sit in the front row on the 2nd deck and then pretend I'm driving the bus

Comon, I don't think I'm the only doing that
