I think I had quite a good life in the 80s, didnt get the chance to stay in Kumpong. Though somapa(spell correct or not) was just right across my place, upper changi road, the plot of land that the failed NSW school was suppose to sit on.

I stayed at the private properties along upper changi road, just behind the Shell station, still there, no money to shift house

Anyway, what happen to somapa? I remember there used to be a clinic there, does anyone remember this place? Is there any like photographic documentation of that place? My memories of it are quite blur. Only remember my mom bring me there to see the doctors, nightmare la........

I was still an infant when my family had to be moved from a kampong in Bukit Gombat to a HDB apartment in Jurong. IIRC the kampong was on the land currently occupied by the MINDEF HQ complex and the SADA Gombak Hill AN/FPS-117 radar station.

i brought lunch most of the time to my primary school recess.....always in the metal tiffin tin.....inside always maggi noodles in bovril......

We had to assemble in the front schoolyard for dismissal and for my primary school, it was abit lottery one....if we finish our last class early, we can assemble nearer to the edge of the carpark.....coz they always dismiss the classes based on rows.....

I went to Plaza singapura's Yaohan alot coz last time took music lessons in Yamaha which was on the 7th level and there was this indonesian restaurant there...called Ramadan or something liddat. and there was a Swensons on 5th level.. which was my fav place for fish and chips and ice cream naturally. on the ground floor there was always Ponderosa.

JUST FYI, Aston's is opened by Ex ponderosa chef hence that particular pink/blue plastic thing that pokes into the steak...and the typical grill marks

    ITS STILL DAMN GOOD

well, in JC, i went to Picturehouse alot to watch movies......

Yes I remembered eighties the golden era.

Girls are fighting to stand and pose in front of your twin-lens reflex camera if you happened to own a Seagull.

And they never asked for anything in return.

This I do agreed. ..... owning a camera is a luxury item during that period.....I still remember my first camera is a Yashika film compact camera with no film motor drive....I had been using it from secondary school till university. Last time, cameras are much more durable and easy to use.

Eighties were the years my voice broke and I could do triple somersaults.

How I wished they had Singapore Idol then.
