Default Does your Canon printer die on you?

Hello to all.
Yesterday my Canon i905 printer suddenly couldn't print.
Regardless of where I connect its USB cable to (the USB port on PC, or the USB ports on the hub), it either does not get recognized, or the PC shows an error message saying "The USB device is not recognised...".
I tried restarting the PC, restarting the printer, tried removing other USB devices, tried reconnecting the printer USB cable... to no avail.
Is there something wrong with the printer's USB cable?

Thanks to all of you in advance!

if you have more than 1 USB port on your PC, try the other one. sometimes it could also be the driver. try reinstalling the driver.

Hello albertsy2, thanks for your quick reply!
I have used every single one of the USB ports. But just no reponse. The only response was from that one single one that gave the error message.
Can't find my CD for the Canon i905 printer already.
Is there a way to re-install the driver without using the CD (meaning, using whatever that we have inside the PC)?
Thanks again!

Try to change another USB cable. Sometime it happened to me as well.

You need to identify the problem systematically by isolating which components are working.

1. Start by using the printer's USB cable on another machine/USB-device that is working properly (ie, replace a working USB cable with the one being tested.)

2. If the cable is okay, try using another machine (borrow a laptop?) to connect to the printer. (You do NOT need the correct drivers on the other machine for the printer to be recognized as a USB device, but you do need the drivers to print.) If the printer is recognized, install the drivers on the other machine and try to print. If printing is ok, then your PC could be the problem, otherwise could be the printer.

3. If the printer is detected OK on the other machine, it could be your PC. Could be a hardware or software problem. Try different USB devices/ports until you can confirm at least one USB port is working on your PC. Use that working port and a confirmed-ok usb-cable to connect to your printer. If it doesn't detect, then it is likely a software issue. Try to remember the last changes you made to the system and reverse them.

FWIW, my guess is the USB cable giving problems.
