    Default Canon 18-200mm vs 70-200mm + 18-55mm

    Hi Guys,

Just started my first posting. I enjoyed all your advise and exchange of views. Can you guys help me decide on which lense to invest for my new EOS 50D. Would I stick to the multi- purpose 18-200mm or buy an 18-55mm for my indoor shots and 70-200mm L lense for my outdoor requirement. Im just getting the cheapest of the 70-200mm range w/o IS since the price is almost the same as the 18-200mm . Any brilliant advise? Thanks Much !

    Forget about the 18-55.

The 18200 and the 70200 are a set of very different lens, IQ wise of cause..

What makes you thinking that you should get these 2 other lenses? Find the driving factors. If it's just "itchy pocket" then forget it. I guess you refer to the 17-55 f/2.8 maybe? Can't see the point of getting the 18-55 to compliment an L lens for the short range.

Personally I think if you are buying the 70-200mm F4 version without the IS then it would mainly be meant for outdoor shoot unless you are going to couple with an external flash to enhance your photo.

Else you would be shooting at high ISO.

    Thanks. I'll go with the 70 - 200mm f4L USM and Tamron 17 - 50mm f2.8 XR Di II (Far more cheaper than EF-S 17 - 55mm f2.8 IS). Yah just have to shot @ Higher ISO for the 70 - 200mm.

I'd rather an 18-200 than a 70-200 f4 non-IS.Range is much better as if you buy the L lens, you would be stuck with too long a focal range for some shots.

i will want to just buy a 18-200.. pratical and save the trouble to change lens when you are travelling.
