You might want to consider getting Cannon A70. Total should be about $800-$850. It uses AA, you can use those NIMH 2100 batteries which is cheap and long lasting. Casing brings you down to 40m. Many people have the wrong idea that all Olympus casing have double 'O' rings. Unfortunate, only PT-15(casing for C5050Z) does.

Can't really advised you on strobe, but I would probably get a cheaper Ikelite which will cost about $700.

Or you can consider the new 4mp Canon A80 which is about $650? - the housing is apparently now available in Singapore for about $300?.

The cheapest strobe set-up is prob the Epoque (check the threads in this subforum) about $600+??. The next step up is the Sea & Sea YS25DX for about $850+. These estimates include the strobe, tray, flexi arm and fibre-optic cable. These digital strobes are slave-fired - no "physical" connector between camera and strobe.

its cheap mah,, good for starters,

not sure about canon,, never got a chance to use one.
but my friends who are not UW photographers preferred brand is canon.

the oly c5050 is kinda like a all rounder, being able to do paranoma(only with Oly XD, according to the digital workshop), marco and super marco all with a press of a button. which SLR cannot underwater(correct me if im wrong).

not sure if the A70 A80 offer super marco or not.. but most digi cam comes with marco mode.
