i was about to post one on this competition for eudcational purposes (on need to be careful of terms and conditions) but seems like someone has already done so (but without reference to the terms and conditions)...

anyway just want to point out that please read the TERMS AND CONDITIONS carefully before you submit especially point 8:

    8. By submitting entries to this Competition, Entrants grant Promoter the non-exclusive, perpetual, worldwide right for the purposes of exhibiting, publicizing and promoting such entries in all formats and media including but not restricted to website, television, radio, cable, video and print, and in any associated promotional material. Promoter may edit, licence and use the entries as seen fit.

sure it says "non-exclusive" use but read these other words "perpectual", "worldwide" and "Promoter may edit, licence and use the entries as seen fit"

    think before you submit...

Gee.. so what if they do that. Not as if most of the people will be making any money from the images in the 1st place. Nett position is still zero for 99% of the people who enter the competition.
Most pros will never admit to joining competitions because they will face the embarassing question "why didn't you win, are you not good enough?"

Unlike toto where you give away something valuable in exchange for a minute chance to win something back, most photographers will give away something of absolutely no value in exchange for a chance to win something.
If they thought their images were worth anything, they'd be smart enough to sell it and use the money to buy the prize + more.
Unless of course, they can't even get an amount that will get them the prize...

then it means they have a worthless image at the start in the 1st place...

Well, let me offer you another perpective, "send in our fotos, let them use whichever way they want, they find your fotos really intriuging, and you receive an employment offer from CNN", How does that sounds to you?.

I know this might sound far fetched, but I do have a colleague in US who volunteered as a MC for an elementary school's sports day, and it so happened that the executive of ABC sports was there, by the end of the week , he was offered a sports presentor position in ABC sports.

I am not saying we should send in our photos with that in mind, but this is also about sharing. But of course, if you think your photos could fetch some money on its own, then by all means, keep them in your closet, its only business.

Programs like this is really about sharing and and bringing the world closer to each other.

    digitally manipulated.....

    Can anyone define that?
Does that mean if i change my photo from color to B&W is manipulation?
Also adding vignette and adjusting levels?

Any help on defining this term, quite keen to send in some photos, but they all are "treated"
