    Default what is it called

i came accross a group of people doing some fashion shooting at esplanade, right in the end near the globe thing.

The flash that i saw was rather round and instead of being in its normal place, i think it was all around the lens

Any idea what this thing is called, hope i have explained sufficiently

The whole setup including the model and stuff looked very high class... i did not like the photos much though, maybe they would do some post processing to get it better

ohh i forgot to mention it was around 9PM

Lightsphere? Gary Fong? Diffuser round the lens... There is also the portable lightboxes, umbrellas, lightings etc. Once you're used to it, you'd not think it's pro anymore

not a diffuser, and neither it was a "ring flash", and i know the setup was pro because of the model, her personal touchup assitant, atleast 5 crew member, tons of equipment...

It was pretty big, the flash was round definitely but not continuos, like a chain of flashes around the lens..

well it was not Nikon R1C1 because there were not just two flashes, i presume it has to be a ring flash indeed as pointed out earlier, only it was more bigger and i guess something like the one mentioned in this URL

and yes, they did have a small generator also..

mystery solved...thanks all of you, Reim1o was bang on
