Default Canon HF S10 or S100 from USA

Hi,

Anyone ever bought a Canon Vixia HF S10 or S100 from USA? Can the AC adapter be used in Singapore? I am interested in ordering one from USA as the price is cheaper than here.

I haven't bought a HF S10/100 from the US, but I bought a HG20 from the US and it works fine, other than the need to use a multiplug. The adapter is listed as 110-240V, which means it can be used here too.

The only small hiccup (in my one, AFAIK) is that one of the tips for the adapter's power plug is wider than the other, which means that it is a lot harder to go into the socket adapter. I filed the extra width off and it works fine, so long as there is a connection between the plug & socket.

Hope this helps you.

the transformer is no issue just that you may need to get the 2 or 3 pin cable for local use. Other then that, the only technicality is Canon`s local warranty.

I bought my Vixia HF S10 from the US. No issue with the adapter as it's compatible ranging from 110 - 240v, plus the superior HD video quality.
If you look at Bargain City, price is rather compatible to Vixia plus you get local warranty. If you really want "cheap & good," go for the Japanese version (Canon Ivis HF S10) from Amazon Japan (costs approx SGD 1300), & have it shipped via Vpost. Not sure if it's true, it's got Japanese & English menu option when operating the camcorder. You may wanna google to find out more. Please bear in mind if you decide to ship via post, battery could be an issue coz it's classified as prohibited item. I happen to get mine (with an extra BP-819 battery - a must have) when a friend was making a stopover at the US....

My initial thread for Vixia HF S10 can be found here:
