Default Great Eggfly

Taken at Sg Buloh Wetlands Reserve. For those who are taking a break from shooting birdies during this migratory season over there, macro opportunities can also be found at SBWR.

This butterfly is almost a resident species at SBWR, making occasional appearances along the paths. Its habit is to fly around a few favourite perches (usually above human height), and return repeatly to these perches time and again.

Shot at ISO 200, f7.1 @ 1/320s

Good observation. Passable shot for me, cos the eyes are not really as sharp as I would want it. Just posting a species other than the usual ones that are being shot here.

No flash used here. It was in bright sunshine, and I just cranked up the exposure compensation to brighten up the dark subject. +0.7EV.

Not upgrading/downgrading to F828 but I am rather impressed with this camera.
Hope I can make some time to go to SBWR one of these days during my holidays. Been there only once so far.

Well, Im staring on my monitor for a couple of seconds just to check the OOF butt's head. It's look just fine for me though, I can still se the details on the eyes.. Even the 2 antenae look well focused although a bit soft.

Nice catch!

Thanks. The eyes are slightly soft, though. This wasn't taken with my usual macro lens though, so perhaps it doesn't qualify to be in this forum! This was shot at the 300mm end of a Tamron 28-300mm. Handholding at 1/320s is about as far as I can go without resorting to a tripod.

Well, it still can be considered a macro shot although its not taken with a macro lens. Nice capture with good background. The eye is just slightly OOF though not that noticeable. Thanks for sharing.
