    Hi is it advisable to mount the lens on a dslr when not in use for extended long period of storage?

    Why not? Body is built with lens intact anyway. Of course, in a proper storage if not in use for long period.

    Shouldn't be a problem but wouldn't it take up more space in the dry cabinet with the lens on?

    i always do that... so far no problems.
