Which would you go for a new D90 or use D300?
What are the difference between the two besides the price ![]() |

I posed the same question myself a few weeks ago. In the end, I chose the D300. You can compare the specifications of the two from the Nikon website. You can see that they use the same sensor and everything is mostly the same..except for the AF points I think. Since I normally prefer to shoot sports, the AF points I believe would be a plus point. The D90 can shoot videos whereas the D300 is not capable of. The popularity of the D90 shows that most would choose the D90 over the D300. However, a few weeks ago, I had difficulty in getting a D90...seems out of stock. Btw, I believe the newer version of the D300 is coming out, though I do not know when. Search the forum and you can see that this topic have been discussed. Cheers.

D90 and the D300 are in a different league
One is mid-range DSLR while one is a professional amateur camera. One has preset modes (D90) while one doesn't (D300). They are also different in terms of size. If you are a newbie, I feel the D90 is actually better.

Honestly, you'd have to try both out and determine which you prefer.
As a current D70 user, I'd be happy with either! |
