For me with the 5050z i will normally use AF.
The faster response i guess is because there is no lag in hunting for the correct focus, which is a "feature" of the camera. But in order to do that you WILL need time to actually adjust you manual focus till that particular, point, in which will most probably slower than the AF. None the less on one of the articles that i have read , this guy from Digitaldiver used a INON UWL type II with a dome port and had alot of success with MF anyway these kinda shooting style is more of the CFWA, Close Focus Wide Angle type of shooting underwater. (since he knows 2 inches from the dome port and he will be in focus.) none the less. if you are new to the camera. just use SPOT and AF, since the target focus will be in the middle of the cross hair, (which means you select where gets to be in focus. ) HTH Last edited by waisj; 4th December 2003 at 01:31 PM. |

ahhh.. ok later i go back and try..
i was thinkin about MF cos usually marco you cannot chase after the subject, rather you have to anticipate its movement. then choose a spot and wait for it to move into your view. the once in you snap. which in the case you use AF the camera will go zz ZZzz ZZzz snap.. the subject could have already left your view. the article also mentioned on MyMode in the 5050z, maybe can present the estimated distance and do minor adjustment. thanks for the info.. will go back and fiddle somemore. ![]() |

use AF, and P mode first. start fiddling around when you get comfortable enough. esp P mode hor, when the pic is quite nice, you will know what shutter speed and aperture to use the next time.
you have to use flash leh. dont turn it off. backscatter can be reduced by getting closer to your subject. the closer you are, the more vivid the colours and the less the backscatter. of course, if you are diving in very murky waters, some backscatter is unavoidable one. but remember the golden rule.. get close! for macro and closeups la. |

I use MF now. Started with shutter priority as to control the amount of light I have to let in.
Now, nothing less for MF, unless I am very lazy, sometimes I switch between Av and Tv based on the subject and conditions present, but never AUTO mode. |

Some are talking about focusing ..be it auto or manual In auto focusing, the camera determines the distance of the subject based on TTL system iESP/spot/fulltime AF [for oly cam]) whereas in manual, u determine the distance of the subject; while others are talking about exposure control....eg aperture-priority, shutter-priority or manual exposure.. Different thing leh ![]() |
