Unhappy How to handle a complaint queen??

    Hi everyone,

I am very depressed and annoyed and irritated and getting nervous breakdown from a complaint queen at my workplace. Anyone has similar experience??? I need help on how to handle her!!!! She can complaint every minute, every second and repeating the same topic over and over and over and over (and so on) again regardless of whether I am willing to handle her complains or not! My job scope doesn't includes handling her complaints everyday. I have used "soft" and "hard" tactics on her already, it has no impact on her at all. Hard method might pissed her off for the time being, but after a few days, she will resume her duty of "complaint executive" again. I have run out of ideas, unless i asked for transfer (which I am not willing to) or I quit the job (economic downturn, difficult to find new job). Looks like I am stuck with her. Please help me!!!!!! Sooner or later, I will go to IMH soon.

Get a voice recorder and record when she starts her nonsense, record the everything and then play it back to let her listen to her own compliant.

Just ignore her, after some ranting and she realised that you're not interested, hopefully she'll just leave you alone.

Tell her to fill up a complaint form, sign it, then u will entertain her, else can just ignore her. Put every thing down in black and white.

Try agreeing and repeating what she tells you.

Use sentences like. "Yes. I can see that you are very upset." "It sounds like there is a lot of things that you are agree about."

Ultimately..people complain because they feel that they are not heard. Just para-phrase. Think it will help.

Else. Learn the ART OF THE 'NINJIA' WARRIOR. To disappear when there is danger.

    Cheers!

    TS, please be more specific.

What did you do to her when you said 'hard' and 'soft'?

Help us help you - let us know in detail, what you're already tried.

Does she do this to everyone in your office, or only you? Under what circumstance dfoes she get triggered?

This is real case that happened to someone I know, after trying to agreed and sympathy
to their problem; the person escalated the complaint to the next higher level and said the
previous personnel has agreed that it's the Co.'s problem and now demand more

When a person is extreme unreasonable, will be extremely unreasonable

erm ts can just stay away from her? I have a colleague...always complaining...but her complains also hints that "i should her in her daily work, so that she can be less stressed"

i couldnt be bothered by such people, they seek attention, then try to make use of you. Perhaps might get you into trouble and offload the responsibility. So stay away if you can.

A happy work place is where you have good colleagues.

Cool Re: How to handle a complaint queen??

Is a challenging question, especially for a supervisor, which i believed u are one. Let that colleague know that if she to complain, it has to be related directly to her work and deem beneficial to the department as whole. Make clear that any minor personal grudges, whether emotional and which include finger pointing at others, will be ignored.
If the complaining colleague had any personal problems, feedback to HR and see if can work things out.

Find out she got husband or boyfriend or not.

    Then chase her like mad.

    She'll avoid you then.

    It always works for me.
