Default need help the newbie!

i don't know if this the right place to post this, but thanks if you give me suggestion..

I'm wondering, My mom is looking for a Video Recording Systems to see who is stealing things out of our yard and she said price really doesn't matter but i would like to make sure i'm getting a good deal.

if at night, you are going to need an IR surveillance camera.

on the cheap, you can get a Sony camcorder with Super Nightshot which is something like nightvision. One step better would be to use a Lanc connection to a motion detector device. Just need to place it somewhere safe overlooking the whole yard. Its possible the ones stealing could even be raccoons.
