It was in a lowepro bag but due to the orientation of the camera facing down, the lens took the bulk of the impact and now I'm having difficulty turning the lens to zoom in and out.
The camera is 1 month past its 12 months warranty and I haven't sent in the warranty card or anything. Should I bring it back to the Nikon center tmr or is there any ways to rectify this ? |

warranty card doesnt need to be sent in. its the receipt that counts. anyway that doesnt matter, since its already 1 month over 12 months.
if the lens is not working lke it should, get it looked at, or serviced. whether to send it in to NSC, i prefer not to, since its a rather cheap kit lens, nd they will charge u an arm and a leg for servicing. 1. Buy a new lens, ditch the old one. (damn good a reason to buy something new) 2. Get Bro Fatigue to take a look at it. He can probably solve it for you, if it doesnt involve replacing of any major part... |

I agree with luntut, have the lens replaced with a new one, this is your reason to upgrade your lens.
are you also having problems with the body or just with the lens?OT: whats with lowepro? would you recommend other bags than crumpler? |

LOL......i using lowepro too and i believe many local photographer use lowepro......and what is the problem?
![]() I have lowepro, Tamrac, Natgeo, Billingham.......so to be safer, i must only use my Billingham then Natgeo.....Lowepro and Tamrac should be my last resort unless i want to risk dropping my camera. Most of the accident are human error. Camera drop - blame the bag? Picture not sharp - blame the lens? Picture not nice - blame the camera? TS, bring the lens to NSC, they will give a free quote, then you decide is it worth the repair, or contact Bro Fatigue. Last edited by Leong23; 2nd July 2009 at 02:19 AM. |

sorry to hear that, things do happen, send it to NSC to see how, if it is beyond or not wroth repair, get a new lens and move on, just be careful about handling the bag next time.

I have dropped a FULL lowepro Nova AW bag with my D80 + 18-200 and SB-600 inside
and absolutely no issues. It is in how you pack the bag and how you place you equipment inside. Always get a slightly oversized bag, that will allow for better orientation choices. Do not pack a bag to the point you have to stuff things in, that is asking for trouble. |

i am forever complaining about lowepro bags.. because...
1. damn ugly for some models 2. not so spacious on the insides cos too much padding. 3. getting more spacious ones will mean i carry a damn fat, big bag along. but i am still using lowepro bags. because 1. i dun really care if they are pretty or ugly, as long as they serve its purpose. 2. i love the paddings, cos i had my mini-trekker drop down from a table top, fully loaded. landed on its side. nothing damaged inside. 3. i am still getting use to that fatness. but its no biggie for me, since i am not very thin to start with... |

3 months extended warranty is only for body, not lens.

for lowepro sling bags... there are those little rubber dots on the shoulder pad to prevent slipping... but i frequently see people use it upside down (also the same for Original Nikon Strap)... maybe some people just don't want to show the Nikon logo (esp Rezo 190 AW)... if don't want to show the Nikon just use black market to paint it... but for goodness sake, please use the anti slipping pads and don't blame bags for human error... later someone drop a Nikon then others would say don't buy/use Nikon...

1. da*n ugly for ALL models. While some bags are built for functionallity and not looks like Thinktank bags, Lowepro bags look ugly and are built with materials that wear and tear easily (My computrekker was totally battered with some parts frayed or torn). They have that typical camera bag look and shape which screams "STEAL ME!I carry expensive camera gear" 2. Actually, I think Lowepro bags can hold too much gear.Having a huge bag means you will want to fill it up. More gear = heavy bag. Heavy bag = painful back. Painful back = I'm at the doctor's I'm at the doctor's = I am not shooting ![]() |

i think slingshot series are like shoeboxes or giftboxes sewn to backpack straps.
i think computrekker/minitrekker series are like ninja turtle shells in black. i think stealth reporter series are like shoeboxes or giftboxes sewn a different way from slingshot series. i think toploader series is a nice design, if they can make it less like a box that you can strap to a waist. i think similarly for the thinktank equivalents, except for the streetwalker series. if they made a streetwalker pro that can fit in a laptop, i am sure as hell going to get it. the harddrive is too big for me. hence, i am contented loooking like a ninja turtle walking around town with my computrekker... right now. though fugly, its the closest i can find to the perfect bag for my gear and laptops now.. though i agree with primephotog that the material used are quite.. dubious. |

luntut, do you agree lowepro can be used for other equipments like flash?
but definitely not cameras or expensive ones... would never trust a lowepro to a few thousand dollars.

i dun really trust it, but its the closest to a perfect bag i can find. what i am doing, is to inspect my bag before every usage, so that i know if something is going to fail, such as the backpack strap or whatever. this step cannot be skipped, especially when you got so much gear inside. if you ask me what is my safest way of transporting such equipment, i will say, use impact resistant flight cases. throw from 2-3 floors down also wun spoil... dun worry too much, just be more careful. i am sure a lot of accidents you are reading online and is related to lowepro is cos, they are everywhere. a very high percentage of photogs are using it. if the percentage of pple using think tank or domke are as high as lowepro, we can probably hear more news about them failing... just on a side note: this is my 888 post! lucky post! hope my computrekker never fails on me... |
