Might as well get a 50mm f/1.4 AI-S, a legendary nikkor manual focus lens

But if u insist on an AF lens, get the 35mm f/1.8

    A great dx prime lens
But if i am not wrong, u can meter on a D60 with a AF-D and nothing with a AI-S lens..

i really take long time to MF on my d60 using metering even so I would not get a MF lens.

If i were you I will get a flash to compensate the aperture size of kit lens(not big enough in dark places)
You get to cover 50mm in that way too since kit lens is 18-55mm

dont really use matrix metering with AI'd or AI-S lens

cos i mainly use them on on f3, fe2. so use manual metering lor.

on on DSLR, i only use one- 105mm f/2.5 so it's ok...

maybe this is a good excuse to learn how to meter manually

Manual Metering should be fine and faster for a prime. For my 28-200mm AF-D lens it was hell
