    Default Newbie - D60

    Hi guys,

Nice to meet u all here...
I'm used D60 with standard kit AF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G ED for few month.

Iím thinking to get some more accessory, maybe like AF 50mm f/1.8D & SB-600.
Understand that AF 50mm canít perform auto focus on D60, but will it hard to use and result nice?

    Appreciate for any commend....

It will be harder to use MF, but once you get the gist of it, you will get better results than AF

MF or AF depends on how fast it your subject moves... still subjects definitely no prob... but if you're doing candid or photojournalism style often then just forget about it...

i would go for the flash, since the kit lens is sharp... all you need is just a good flash to make it go faster...

As lens variety is limited on D60, as jaRv1s has suggested, i think a flash would do good to up your next level on the kit lens.

    Never underestimate kit lenses.

If you worry about the focus, u might consider the AF-S 50 1.4.

    yes, if u need auto focus , u can get the AF-S 50mm f/1.4
... however, it is 3 to 4 times the price of AF 50mm 1.8.
Since u r getting a second lens, y dont u get a 55mm-200mm AFS? it complements your current lens and allows you to have a greater zoom. currently only selling at about 350..

    1st, welcome to CS
You gotta ask yourself WHY you need the 50/1.8 lens.
Yes its price is quite low, but that shouldn't be the only reason why you should get it.
Like you yourself have mentioned, it cannot auto focus with a D60.
    Exploring! :)

Thanks for all of your sharing.
Feel so great so many ppl ans my question.

I wanna get AF50mm 1.8 due to its bigger Aperture. Because feel like to try a cheaper but greater aperture lens.

Actually, i also thinking to get a 3rd party lens.
Because thier price within my budget.Around SGD500
for example Sigma or Tamron (NikonMount) AF 17-50mm F/2.8.

But, i wondering that these kind of lens support auto focus on D60?
    Anyone know about this?

For D40/x/60/5000, AF works with the following

    For Nikkor lenses - AF-S, AF-I
    Sigma - HSM
Tamron - those stated with built in motor

D60 is using DX sensor so you might find that the 50mm lens feels too 'tight' when you look through the viewfinder. Can't see enough of the world.
I have that experience with my 50/1.8

Try zoom your kit lens to 50mm and see if the view looks ok.
For <$500, there's the AF-S DX 35mm f/1.8, which I think sells for about $350-$370 (if you can find it in stock)
    Exploring! :)

    i would suggest u for 35mm f/1.8G, price is about twice from 50mm f/1.8D

or maybe u can consider buy a tamron 17-50 f/2.8 (but its on same range with your kit lens).

Technically, you can forgo the 50mm f/1.8 AF-D because it doesn't af on your body

Might as well get a 50mm f/1.4 AI-S, a legendary nikkor manual focus lens

But if u insist on an AF lens, get the 35mm f/1.8

    A great dx prime lens
