Default Spain & Portugal

Hi all, I'm new to photography. Just toured Spain & Portugal with my new Nikon D90 and post-processing more than 1,000 shots is no joke!

I've selected a few of my favourite shots for sharing and critique (and will add on further as my post-processing progresses). Please feel free to share how these shots can be improved in terms of composition, technique and post-processing.

Thanks!

#1 Dark Clouds over Peniscola

#2 The Cathedral of Murcia

#3 Cathedral Bell Tower

#4 Generalife Gardens

Thanks, Chewed!

No typo on the name - Peniscola is a local evolution of "Peninsula". La Alhambra is indeed beautiful - plain on the outside but incredibly ornate on the inside.

Love #5. The details you captured is amazing. Do you have any history of this building?

Wow. Sure makes our 'durian' Esplanade looks like ranbutan.

Thanks, Troika. No filters were used but the image was post-processed to bring out the colour in the sky and water.

Thanks, NineEleven. La Alhambra, "The Red Fortress", was a palace fortress of the Moorish rulers of Spain in the 14th century. It is located in Granada in the south of Spain. While the exterior is really quite plain, the interior is full of intricate stonework that has been described as "lace in stone".

Yup, the Valencians definitely went a lot further than we did with a whole multiplex of avant garde architecture.

hey, nice shot of the architecture. the place looks amazing. i think the skys, on the other hand, looks too fake with the post processing. you should have gotten a polarizer!! but still, nicely taken

Hi waderbreak, appreciate your honest feedback. I realise I do tend to overdo the post-processing! I've redone it so that the hue is closer to the original, but darkened using curves and the addition of vignetting. The clouds at top-left were already strangely flat in the unprocessed shot, although the darkening did seem to make them look even flatter and more fake. Hope this is somewhat better nonetheless!
