Default slide copier or a flat bed scanner ?

I have intention of purchasing an equipment to convert my slides into digital files. There seems to be 2 options.

Either to use a slide copier ( mounting the slide on one end with a light bulb and use a DSLR to capture the slide image ).

Or to use a flat bed scanner to scan the image on the slide.

Is there any difference in picture quality ? which is a better option ?

Is it also possible to shoot a negative color film using a DSLR and then convert it into a color digital image ?

I am sorry, if the question sound a bit stupid..
thanks in advance.
Billy
