Ok ok, not really colorful, just pink bg but isn't it good to get away from black bg once in a while?

Thanks, zh3ng, jameskkmok and PennyTan
![]() zh3ng, yes, MP-E65 and diffused MT-24EX. Wasn't really high mag though..no more than 3X i think. The longhorn beetle was quite big. PennyTan, it's a longhorn beetle ![]() |

Nice close up! perhaps to get more parallel to the subject to get both eyes sharp? not sure if the DOF is too thin for your set up?

DOF is very thin esp at high mag, and you don't want to keep the F number too high and end up with soft image due to diffraction. effective f number = f number x (magnification + 1) I wouldn't go above F16 (max) at 1:1...even then the DOF is only about 1mm ![]() |

Not really a newbie, i think? ..Bought my first macro lens Tamron SP90 in July 2007, then MP-E65 in Dec 2008. . MP-E65's maximum working distance is 4".The working distance at different mag: 1X - 4", 2X - 2.5", 3X - 2", 4X - 1.7", 5X - 1.6" |

Amazing magnification.........This is only 3x magnification........i can only imagine going at 5x with the MP-E65. Nice series. Hope to see more postings from you.

For example this shot at 5X...at F7.1...the DOF is razor thin ![]() ![]() It's wise to survey as early as you can ![]() |
