    Default Hi All!

    Hi,

I am a newbie here, and I just got my Nikon D90 not long ago. I would like to know what are the limitations of the kit lens 18-105mm?

Another question I would like to know what are the lens required to take photos of watches?

    Thanks.

    Hi aurora889,

    welcome to CS.

Limitations? Only the physical ones, which is the focal lenght as well as the maximum aperture at the differring focal lengths. If you wish to take pictures of watches, consider getting a macro 60mm lens with a light tent or black tent.

have the same lens and i think it's a rather competent walkaround lens. limitations? well the f is 3.5-5.6, and the reach stops at 105...

limitations? well.. not macro? cannot zoom too far? like waht others say, it is a good range as a walk about lens. meaning u can have 1 lens for most normal situation. of course once u get better and knows more, u will want more lenses for all different purposes.. for landscape 1 type, for portrait 1 type etc..

I m a D90 kit lens too. If u want to snap watches, u should go for macro lens which I think is a big sum for me to invest at the moment. Try to master your lens well then u will know the limitations..

    Happy shooting!

Thanks for all the inputs people! However, I have discovered something interesting with the D90. The camera interprets the colour purple as blue.

Hence, I would like to know if there is anyway to fix this issue?

Check your white balance...Cannot leave on Auto all the time and expect the colour to be perfect.
