Nothing great about the images. Normal subject and normal photos. No flash light use just using two or three LED torches, cost only 0.031% as compare to my SB900, WB direct sunlight set the color to more warm, ISO400, F16, aperture mode, center weight, tripod, D5000, 200mm macro, photoshop pp. I am very happy with the exposure very well even distributed. Especially for the crab spider no overexpose of the torso, Will do more testing & development in the future. C & C are welcome.

Beautiful Shots. I like the water droplets picture. Looks like the droplets were being shaken while the picture was taken...
Can see the round droplets mid air.

hi mousedeer,
how did you mount the torches? did u use a multi-arm tripod or something? i think torches are great idea (provided we could mount them nicely), because we need torches for focussing anyway, and now since they serve two purposes, that would reduce all the hassle of using a torch for focussing and then using a flash to provide final lighting. cheers! ![]() |

thnks for reply. is it too much trouble to ask you to post a pic of your torch mounting? if yes, no problem. I will join the next night macro outing and see it myself. but could you pls let me know what torches are u using? LED types? if so, how many lumens rating? and are they identical? sorry for the long-windedness. I am trying to avoid wearing a head band mounted with a torch. ha ha.... thanks. |

Here is the set up. You dont need to wire up the switch, use the torch switch is ok.
If you a better idea hope you can share. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Looks very good and proper for a DIY
So normal settings you shoot? or different way of shooting? Notice your BG is bright, so slower shutter?

HI, Mousedeers, After so many modifications to your diffuser, you now go into LED.But the LED indeed looks good. The color is natural unless you PP. BTW what was the speed in your A mode.? Was it fast enough to handheld at f16.?

hi mousedeer,
hats off to you! it is a fantastic set-up. i can never imagine that we could mod the switch on/switch off wires to each of the torches. and that aluminium bracket is nice. anyway, that must be a heavy and cumbersome contraption to move between shrubs and tall grass. but we can see the effort is worth it. all your pics are fantastically vivid and clean! |

Thanks for the kind words. |
