Thought i'd better start this new thread so that the current people who've lompanged some Rodinal will be alerted to respond to me.



My schedule changed from returning in June to returning in July 18- Aug 18. (no thanx to some ridiculous inflexibilities of a certain airline! )

Some of your have previously indicated that you'd like me to bring back some Rodinal (R) and Rodinal Special (RS).

here is the list:-

I need you guys to confirm if the above was correct. Also do let me know if the changed schedule is still okay with you. I'm purchasing for myself here too and these will be in €. but will reflect the SG price later on (hoping that the price drops abit later, good for me and you guys too! )

So near end June, when i reflect the price in SGD, i'll also PM you guys the account number to transfer the amount too first.

Unfortunately, i am unable to bring in more than 10 bottles as i'm not doing this as a business. If there are others who really need Rodinal that desperately, he/she'll have to pray and hope that somebody from the above list pulls out.

FIRST COME FIRST HOR.................. If nobody else then i think Dreamy Merchant will start to spike his Bourbons with Rodinal liao....

erm...i'll have a look at the shops again...usually they sell these and some other funny wierd inhouse brand that i've never seen b4...

and unfortunately, its a German thing......even though MIG (Made In Germany) its usually ridiculously priced....

thats y even for Rodinal, i am still unhappy to say that it is not ridiculously cheap but it is not RIDICULOUSLY expensive either.......the main reason y the price is high is because even though it was revived, the demand for Rodinal went up again..... and again, BnH dont have stock too...

The place i buy my developing chemicals is (maybe) one of the cheapest around in Germany......and they are actually quite a niche shop.....

Unfortunately, my German is beyond salvation.......(i'm crawling slower than a snail when it comes to learning the blardy grammer).....



will let u know the price of the film in Euros after the 19% Vat too....


As for the Rodinal chemicals, the price in SGD will have included the 19% Vat and whatever crap insurance and handling crap that they always levy....
even if i take the train to their shop, it'll cost more than them delivering it to my doorstep.......haiz......Germany is liddat loh......every smally minute thing oso charge.......so actually alot of ang mohs love SG....coz everything is literally SERVICE for Free........and thats y alot of them take us for granted

germany is a nice country.. ppl very nice...most can speak english... ya things can be expensive... been there twice... its one of the better place to work in europe besides switzerland and austria

erm..............

For work, Tax is ridiculously high so most people like me are poor. earning MUCH lesser than in SG!

as for friendliness, it all depends....... not everybody is nice here. I have some fantastic german colleagues and 1 or 2 a**h*les....it all depends on the individual.

Racism and Skepticism is still quite ingrained into their culture. Although the younger generation is more open to English speaking people, but depending on the city/town you're in. In some parts like Göttingen, if you do not speak German, they will not be that friendly. I mean, we're already being prejudiced against being non blonde/caucasian, but the fact that if one does not speak German then they treat you differently, i mean...this is ridiculous.

many of the non german people in this town here do have a form of resentment towards such "egoistic/supremacy" mentality here, but i must be fair, not EVERYWHERE in this town is liddat lar...sometimes u get quite pissed with such attitudes.

In bigger cities, its alot less of a problem because of the sheer numbers of other cultures and other races.

well........overall, i've heard that other European nations can even be worse when it comes to racism......

i guess, it all depends on the fad these days

sometimes they have funny specials.... also dunno y......2 months ago, Diafine was on offer.....(also dunno y), the price was CRAZILY CHEAP!

€10 maybe can try and play play to see the results, never try b4... but i have so many bottles of rodinal i think i can't even finish them in my lifetime...

is it in powder form ?

yesh,,,,its 2 tin cans of powder. (Its one of Greg choong's fav and one of mine too )

and Diafine is the perfect partner to TriX at almost all speeds....

if u use TriX with Rodinal, and do not like the gritty grains, then u should try Diafine...it makes it alot silkier.

anyway, now the price no longer €10 liao

yeah the c2pig Diafine is damn ex now after 19% VAT, is close to SGD60.....which is madness lah... but i'm suspecting that there are people who're ordering it once awhile...

But previously i remember long long time ago when one of the lao jiaos of trad b&w ordered some Diafine too, the cost was about 50ish or wassit SGD55 then.......so technically its not MUCH MORE EX than previously, but i guess its because of the exchange rate.

I'll wait for their price to drop and will let u guys know again.

For those who want Diafine cheaper and cannot wait, i suggest u check out Silverprint in UK........they should stock it at a cheaper price also....

Here are some very important the disclaimers......

1) I'm coming back for holiday for 1 month to treat my homesickness first and foremost lah....but since i myself wanna get Rodinal and the crap, I am extending some my wife's and my luggages space to let those really into trad b&w developing relive and play with one of the longest and arguably most flexible developer of all times, Rodinal.
so, mai gan cheong that i touch down liao, but haven't indicated when and where to meet! I still need to balek kampung to my parents first mah...
BUT, i can tell u that collection point will be either at Funan, Peninsula Plaza BK, or The Riverwalk lah

so

2) I am directly converting the cost of each bottle in Euros and convert to SGD based on www.xe.com for exchange rate and reflecting that on this thread. If tomorrow Euro become stronger agst SGD, i will not change the amount and likewise if it falls too.

3) I will wait for you guys to transfer the EXACT SGD amount to the account b4 the stipulated date above (4th July 2009) b4 i travel to the other town to purchase. (if i include travelling cost by train to the other town, i think most of you can kiss your Rodinal goodbye, coz really, Germany's train is MORE EX than 3X your bottle of Rodinal!)
