Default Noob using Sigma 18-200mm/Tamron 28-300mm on 1000D with Mass IR filter

Hi all, im new , happen to have a old IR filter for my zoom lens.
This is what i done.

1.Take a picture of patch of grass (with/without IR filter)
2.Set the custom WB with the pic taken in Step1.
3. Take a scene of park with trees....exp 0 f8 1min to 2min (bulb) with tripod @ 3pm
4.Result = purple-lish ...scene....without any color for both custom WB settings.

Do let me anything i done wrong or which of the component is bad for IR.

1.Massa filter.
2.Sigma 18-200mm/Tamron 28-300mm
3. Canon 1000D.

Please advise

Without photos, it's hard to tell what is going wrong.

yes that happens to me before.
what i did was, i keep playing the with channel mixer bar.,
until it satisfy me. or maybe its because of the WB? do a search on this,
recently i saw a thread regarding WB on IR.

Looks like you white balance is off. maybe you could post your shot that you use for the CWB.

My CWB take: At AWB take a photo a green patch of grass........ different shade of grass will result in your shot come out differently. The shot should be red or pinkish....... and use them for your CWB.

Never tried 1000D, so not sure on the exposure required.
